About the specialty
Energy of heat technology is the newest specialty formed in the eighties of the XX century. Its emergence was due to the necessity by the requirements of modern industry whose further development would have become impossible without the widespread introduction of energy conservation, substantial increase of overall performance of industrial heat processing equipment. This required the solidification of heat technique and energy engineers training of the industrial and municipal enterprise workers.
Field of professional activity
The power system resolves issues connected with the use of heat, transmission management and transformations of other forms of energy into energy. The heat technology is the product obtained from thermal processing of initial raw materials. The production of cement, glass, concrete and silicate products, steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals and many others belong to energy technology. Also the production of steam and heat in industrial and municipal boiler rooms is linked to energy technology.
The energy technology is part of the power system which solves improved efficiency problems of thermal operation in the industrial furnaces, heat processing equipment, boilers and steam and power supply systems, energy conversation issues and ecological safety in industries and housing maintenance sectors.
In our country, during the steel production, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, material construction, a lot of energy is ulitised than in any similar enterprises of industrially advanced countries. The problem of energy conversation has become especially important after Russia in November, 2004 ratified the Kyoto protocol which regulates the ozone gas emission into the atmosphere. The greater part of such emission results from the combustion of fuel. Therefore the decrease in emissions is possible only in the case of energy conservation which can reduce fuel consumption. The state’s stern position on ecological requirements and penalties on producers will to lead to the Kyoto protocol ratification. For the export goods, it will be necessary to carry out serious inventory on energy costs on their production and be prepared for the fact that buyers will begin demanding provision of such information. Subsequently it will lead to demand for specialists in the sphere of energy efficiency and conservation.
Engineers of energy technologies can develop, improve, operate energy production and energy power equipment of industrial enterprises, enhance industrial thermal furnaces and boilers operations, use secondary energy resources, increase heat supply efficiency systems, develop and implement power into energy conservation activities in industries and housing maintenance services. Graduates of the department can work as engineers as chief power engineer in branches of any enterprise, in energy technological services of boiler rooms, combined energy and power plants and thermal power plants, production of construction materials, compressor stations, thermal networks, research, design and installation organizations. High level of training allows graduates in a short time after the university completion to hold positions of chief power engineers of shopworks and entreprises, heads of factory boiler rooms, directly involved in formation of energy policy of productions, promote implementation of perspective energy conversation technologies.

• Technological installations of production, distribution and use of energy, steam and boilers of different functions.
• Steam and gas turbines, power units, steam generators.
• Installations, systems and components of high and low temperature energy technology, including furnace of industry of construction materials.
• Thermal networks.
• Support energy technical equipment, heat and mass exchanged devices of different functions.
• Installations of production of compressed and liquefied gases, compressor, refrigeration units, installations of air conditioning systems, thermal pumps.
• Installations of conditioning of heat carriers and functional materials.
• The specifications, technical documentation and systems of standardization, methods and means of evaluation of equipment and quality control of produced products in power system.

Training features at the department
The high level of training of specialists became possible due to the highly skilled staff of department of Energy technology. The department has a laboratory complex for training in different energy technical fields. The department has also a computer centre. At the request of Belgorod administration, our student graduates design energy audit of school and kindergarten buildings of the city with development of proposals of energy conversation.
In conclusion it is possible to say that the training in the field f 13.03.01 "The power system and energy engineer" gives our graduates a modern, needed, highly paid profession, thereby opening boundless opportunities and extensive field for professional activities of the young specialist.
